Palma Cathedral from the sea
La Seu, Palma's cathedral, was built facing the Mediterranean. From the deck of the yacht, its Gothic silhouette commands the whole bay, a perspective most visitors will never see.
Begun in the 13th century on the site of the former great mosque, La Seu has one of the tallest Gothic naves in Europe. Its great rose window, among the largest in the world, catches fire in the morning light. At its feet, the royal palace of the Almudaina completes one of the finest seafronts in the Mediterranean.
From the water, the city fades away and the golden stone takes all the light. Our skipper loves to drop anchor in the bay at golden hour, when the façade lights up and the city lights come on one by one. This is, quite literally, the view the cathedral was designed for: the one seen by sailors arriving from the sea.
